I feel like I have been gone forever!

I’ve not even begun to get caught up with my blog-reading, but I thought it’s about time I got back to my poor little blog! Life hit warp-speed and I definitely got overwhelmed with it, but in a good way.

First, I finally graduated college:

Which was pretty world-rocking for me, because it’s been, oh… 8 years in the making! Better late than never :). It was a wonderful day; my mom, dad and sister came up from CT, and of course Hubs was there. Harvard really puts on a big whoop-de-doo with their graduation celebration, and I didn’t even mind that I had to get up at 4:45am to be there. It was magical and a day I’ll always remember. Of course we celebrated with some margaritas!

My parents left that evening, but my sister stayed with us for a couple of days to hang out and generally have a good time.

On Saturday, after we dropped my sister off at the train, hubs and I headed over too Legacy Place in Dedham (a huge outdoor shopping center with great restaurants and a big theatre) to catch Iron Man 2. We also caught a few cocktails at my favorite spot, Aquitaine.

And this, the Aquitini:

It was definitely one of the best martinis I’ve had in a while. It had fresh orange juice, orange vodka, and something called “Brille de lillet” — which I googled and is some sort of pear infused liqueur. It was so good!

And then, we went to Maryland to begin our house hunting expedition. We searched for three days and saw between 10-15 houses each day. Suffice to say, it was QUITE exhausting. But we did find something we loved… I don’t want to jinx it! The mission now is to sell this condo ASAP so we can put an offer down on this new place. If we get it… Oh boy. I don’t even know what to say, expect ALL of my kitchen appliances will have a permanent counter spot.

So, can you tell there’s been a lot of eating and drinking going on? There really has. And I wish I could tell you that I stuck to my workout plan, but I really did not! In fact, I’ve been wearing a lot of stretchy pants lately. It’s mildly stressful to know I’ve put on weight. It’s to be expected, when you’re suddenly eating and drinking 3x more than you were before. And not exercising enough.

I also have a job in retail now. I think I’m the last person on earth to have never worked retail, right? I actually love it. I enjoy the ladies I work with, it’s a fairly small store with a lot of regular clients, and I have a super amazing discount — which is both good and bad. Let’s say, I’m definitely representing the store’s clothes these days. 🙂

So life has been a little busy, which is great. I just need to adjust to it and get myself into a real routine. I look forward to getting updated on all of your blogs! I hope everyone is having a great start to their summer!

Hooray!

I have succeeded in securing a part-time gig for the remainder of our stay in the Boston area, however long that may be. I’m so excited! It’s a part-time sales position at a retail store literally five minutes from my house, and they are being SUPER flexible for me! Yay! I am going to not be so very broke!

In other news, I had some good eats today.

After this:

ginger and grapefruit juice

I couldn’t pin-point a breakfast that I felt like eating. And then, after staring into my fridge for a while, I came up with this:

Cukes, sweet peppers, and a dip made of low-fat organic sour cream (why am I obsessed with sour cream lately?) with dill, salt+pepper, onion powder, smoked paprika. It was DELICIOUS. Reminiscent of the powdered onion dip, only better. Obviously! It was a crunchy, fresh, yummy meal.

Later on, it was time for something more carby: breakfast for lunch!

This was fantastic. Sweet, salty, crunchy, smooshy, delightful. The waffles are amazing. Multigrain Toaster Waffles from Trader Joe’s. Do go buy them. You won’t regret it! I topped mine with a little Earth Balance (ok, ALOT) and pure maple syrup. Plus some veggie sausage patties on the side. It was so heavenly.

I just had dinner and I’m waiting for Hubs to get home. I don’t think he’ll be here before 10 o’ clock, and it is killing me. I do miss him, but also it’s the series finale of 24 tonight. In fact, it’s one hour into it, and I’m just so dying to see it. I realize I’ll probably have to wait until tomorrow or ever (gasp) Wednesday to see it. That’s what love is, right?

Dinner was fantastic.

And so pretty, right? Do you love the fork sticking out of it?

Just a simply baked potato with guac, black beans, salsa, and a litlte goat cheese. So very good. I love potatoes.

It was quite the start to a hectic week. I, apparently, have a job now; in addition we have a commencement event tomorrow night and I graduate on Thursday. My parents and sister are coming. 🙂

Talk to you tomorrow!
