Tag Archives: date night

Or perhaps, what I’ve NOT been up to. For example, updating this blog. And listening to my lectures. I’m so behind on things, and yet, when the day winds down and the baby bear is finally tucked in – all I want to do is pass out to the sweet sounds of The Big Bang Theory.

Motherhood, huh?

Let’s see what’s been up around here…

I crossed over to the dark side and made my first homemade skin balm. This was for Eli, because he has super dry skin and the doctor keeps wanting to put steroids on it. It’s a mix of beeswax and olive oil – and it’s incredible. His skin is finally softening – and so is mine! Perfect for this nasty weather.

Eli is a big boy and now chills on the couch with Sammy. ‘Scuse us.

My three free nail polishes from Zoya came, and I’m now addicted to painting my nails with them. Thanks, Kim.

I let the professionals handle my feet though. Eeps.

Kitty continues to be lazy and spoiled.

I pretended to have super short hair for a few minutes.

Hubs and I had a VERY short date lunch. But it was super fun.

So, all in all, it’s been cool around. Besides the fact that I’m so far behind on school. I do need to get a handle on that. I’m sure that I will.

How are you all doing, as we begin to close out the first month of 2013?

Guys, I’m going to an event tonight. Eli isn’t coming, I’m wearing heels, and Hubs is wearing a tux.

It’s like old times!

While I’m pretty darn excited to be fitting into one of my old “black tie” dresses tonight, I’m even more excited to do my makeup. I looooove makeup. Back in high school when Sephora first opened, I thought I was going to just DIE. I asked them every visit – when are you guys getting a frequent buyer rewards card?! And finally they did. And I am a proud, card carrying V.I.B.!

Anyway, love makeup. Love playing with different looks. Compulsive buyer of makeup. I did my cousin’s makeup for her wedding and I did my own makeup for our wedding as well.

And it actually lasted through tropical weather and shenanigans like this:

I love trying out new looks.

It’s just a lot of fun for me.

However, since Eli came around, there’s not a whole lot of time to devote to tinkering around with makeup. I consider it a fancy day if I even out my complexion AND put some eyeliner on. That’s why I’m pretty excited to take some time today to glam it up a little.

If you’re into makeup at all, I’d highly recommend checking out PixieWoo. They are a sister makeup team out of the UK with a YouTube channel and their tutorials are awesome. It’s an added bonus that they are gorgeous and speak with the most luscious accents. It’s a good time.

I’ll be sure to let you know what “look” I decided to go with tonight. I’m sure you’re waiting with baited breath ๐Ÿ™‚

Any plans for this Friday, peeps?

Over here, it seems, at least temporarily, as though the crazy heat wave has broken. Triple digit temps have been the norm, and it just makes you tired and lazy. I’m looking forward to being outside more for sure!

This weekend was more active than usual. First off, I got a haircut!

I cut off a ton of hair, as it was down to the middle of my back. SO MUCH BETTER! Ahh.

Hubs and I had date night. We went to one of our favorite restaurants, Seasons 52. If you’re not familiar with this chain, they specialize in seasonally inspired cuisine and each dish stays under the 500 calorie mark. Everything there is delicious, usually, and they have a long list of creative cocktails as well.

We started out with our favorite summer martini – Strawberry infused organic vodka with basil and a touch of agave nectar.

I rolled with the Vegetarian Tasting Plate, which consisted of:ย โ€œgrains of life,โ€ soft taco, chili relleno, vegetables, cedar roasted tofu, mango chutney.

The grains of life were amazing. Quinoa and bulgar I think, mixed with dried cranberries and fresh orange. Delicious. The chili relleno was also delicious, but gosh… so tiny. Like, two bite tiny. I was very disappointed with the tofu, which was barely seasoned and cold. The soft taco was good. I wouldn’t order it again. Instead I’d probably roll with the entree sized chile rellenos, because those never disappoint!

Sunday we finally made it to the Farmer’s Market. I’ve been trying to go for months, but something always happens on Sunday that prevents me from going!

So glad we went. Those tomatoes are absolutely as epic as they look. One of my favorite things ever is slices of fresh ripe tomato with mayo, salt and pepper, on toast. Mmmmm!!! I also signed up for a CSA share, so I’m really excited about that!

We had some good friends over Sunday afternoon, and our babies played and kept us busy chasing them. And we sipped on this:

Watermelon punch! I’m not posting the recipe because I think it still needs some tweaking. But in a nutshell, I scooped it out, blended it up with fresh basil and rum, and voila! I think next time I’m going to strain it so it isn’t as foamy. The vita mix really frothed it up. I may also use either vodka or a clear rum, like Bacardi, because I used a dark aged rum, and it’s so smooth and slightly sweet, so the rum taste was completely masked by the watermelon. Perhaps you like that? I really like to taste my booze. ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyway, that was my weekend! On the agenda this week: Teach this little one how to sleep again.

Mommy is totally over it!

How was your weekend? Anything fun or delicious happen?
