People, I finally went to the gym.

For real, this time.

It was freakin’ awesome.

It has been approximately six months since I stepped foot inside the gym, and if we are being honest, probably two years since I actually put in a decent workout.

Shameface.

Some people are surprised when they find out that I didn’t exercise at all to lose my weight. I would probably have been surprised too, I guess. But when you cut out the crap from your diet, your body just goes where it needs to be. Naturally. And sometimes really quickly. However, exercise is important.

All Spring, Summer, and Fall, I walked daily, of course. It helped that being in the stroller was a calming distracting for Eli. Walking is great, and movement helps to detox the body and tone it.

But sometimes you need to sweat!

Muscle is important, and while I was no mean lean machine before I got pregnant, it was clear afterwards that pregnancy kills your muscle. Since I’m toying with the idea of baby #2, the last thing I want to do is embark on another pregnancy without some muscle mass in tow.

So anyway. The gym was good. I’m keeping track of my workouts and will probably share them at some point on Best Mama.

In the meantime, PLEASE try this!

It is called a sweet potato hasselback. And if, STILL, you are afraid of butter, please please please, step over into the light with me and try this. I promise it’s so delicious.

Also, I did not have gouda, which will be remedied soon. It was still just as delicious with the raw cheddar I had.

Eli also enjoyed it. A lot. And all over the place.

Have a great Wednesday you guys! I’m off to clean this hizzy before hubs returns from his trip, and then kiddo and I are off to pick up our bounty of farm fresh goodies – more on that later!

What’s up, peeps? Sorry I was MIA yesterday, but I’m back!

So what’s been up… Well, first of all, Hubs is so cuteables. On May 17th (our 1month anniversary!!!) he sent me lovely lilies:

I adore them! I can’t wait until they all open up — it appears there are many colors! So far I have a pink and a yellow. They totally brightening my life right now because, it is, yet again, rainy and gross in Boston. Qu’elle surprise!

In case you’ve been paying attention to my exercise challenge, I’ll give you the update: today is day 5 and I am in SO MUCH PAIN! You know what I’m talking about, right? It’s that punishment pain, the pain that comes when you haven’t done something long enough for your body to have completely forgotten about it. It’s lunge pain. My bum is in such misery, even sitting here is uncomfortable — but getting up is worse :). I’ll be heading out to do my cardio in a bit, and I’m thinking that will help stretch out my poor muscles. All in all, though, I’m happy with what I’m doing. It’s by no means a grueling plan — it’s more of an introduction (or re-introduction) into a solid cardio/strength routine. After this month I know I’ll definitely have to step it up, but I think I’ll be more than ready.

Some exciting things….

I’m married to a stud. A stud who wins awards all the time. 2010 has definitely been a good year so far for the Hubs — he’s gotten 2 awards and me — he’s a pure gold baby! But I digress; last night he won a Rosoff Award, which was super cool, and we got to check out the JFK Memorial Museum, which I’d never been to but always seen from the high way, while slowly dying in Boston traffic. It was much fun and Hubs got a lot of props for his acceptance speech. I is so proud of him! 🙂 🙂

I’m working on a super special project that I can hopefully unveil to you in the next few months. I’m dying to spill right now, but that wouldn’t be the right thing to do as of yet. Gotta get the ducks in the row first (or should I say, puppies…hmmm). I will say that, if all goes well, I will be one happy lady!

Speaking of puppies, mine are killing me this morning. There are some maintenance workers doing something on the stairs that happen to be right next to our living room window, and I don’t think my dogs will EVER get tired of barking at them. I understand that they are infuriated and protective and whatever, but geeeee whiz, pups. I had enough wine last night where that barking is not my friend today. They are lucky that they are so cute.

How’s Wednesday going? I still can’t shake the feeling that I’ve got homework I should be doing… 🙂
